Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1: A Compact Mirrorless Camera

**Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1**

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 is a compact **Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mirrorless camera** released in **2013**, notable for its **exceptionally small size**—one of the smallest interchangeable-lens cameras ever made at the time.

### **Key Features:**
- **Sensor:** 16MP Live MOS (Micro Four Thirds)
- **Lens Mount:** Micro Four Thirds (compatible with Panasonic & Olympus lenses)
- **Size:** Ultra-compact (99 x 55 x 30 mm, ~204g body only)
- **Autofocus:** Contrast-detection AF (fast for its time)
- **ISO Range:** 200–25,600 (extended)
- **Video:** 1080p at 30/25fps (no external mic input)
- **Controls:** Simplified interface (touchscreen & minimal physical buttons)
- **Wi-Fi:** Built-in for remote control & file transfer

### **Pros:**
✔ Tiny & lightweight (ideal for travel)
✔ Surprisingly good image quality for size
✔ Supports a wide range of MFT lenses

### **Cons:**
✖ Limited physical controls (relies on touchscreen)
✖ No built-in flash (external flash included)
✖ Small grip (less comfortable for larger hands)

**Best For:** Street photography, travel, or as a discreet backup camera.

**Fun Fact:** Despite its size, the GM1 shares the same sensor as larger Panasonic MFT models, making it a powerhouse in miniature.

This camera is no longer available as new and is quite difficult to get on the second hand market. I still prefer the GM5 to this although this is really a pocket camera.
