NOTE:

What they don't tell you. If you are not a dog lover then this town is NOT for you. It must be the dog capital of the world as every visitor we saw had at least one dog if not two. No we didn't have a dog but my sister-in-law did. I think it has something to do with dogs being allowed to stay in all the rooms. That is not normal.

Because my wife and I can't sit on the beach all day playing with dogs, we hired a couple of bikes (quite expensive) and explored the surrounding towns and villages that way. The Netherlands is known for it's "bike roads" as they have priority over cars. Very pleasant to experience. Another factor is that The Netherlands is very flat and the majority of the reclaimed land is below sea level. The dikes they have built to hold the sea back are very, very impressive.

One thing you must try when visiting is Kibbeling. This is the dutch version of fish and chips. Absolutely delicious! (see image below)
