Discovering the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast, a stunning stretch of coastline in southern Italy, is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, charming villages, and rich history. Stretching along the Sorrentine Peninsula, it offers a dramatic landscape of steep cliffs and sparkling blue waters. Key destinations like Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello draw visitors from around the globe, each showcasing unique architecture and vibrant culture.

Visitors can explore narrow, winding streets lined with boutiques, indulge in local cuisine featuring fresh seafood and homemade pasta, and enjoy world-class hospitality in picturesque hotels. The emerald hills are adorned with terraced vineyards and lemon groves, providing an authentic taste of Italian life. 

We wanted to do something a little different so we hired a sailing boat and decided to sail down the coast and stopping off at certain places. It's not every day you can look at the scenery from the water. We didn't fancy all the traffic with no parking spaces to be had. A good decision I think. One we would repeat again a number ot times.

If there is one place I would return to here is Ravello. We didn't spend enough time there. If you have to chance, spend a couple of nights in this enchanting place.

Pompei

This place is really worth a couple of days to explore thoroughly. You really are taken back in time as you see the amazing things that have been preserved. I didn't think it possible, but I was proved wrong again.

Napoli

Napoli, Italy's vibrant city, boasts a rich history and a unique cultural heritage that captivates all who visit. Known for its stunning coastal views, bustling streets, and renowned cuisine, Napoli is a destination that offers an array of experiences. The reason I mention Napoli here (as well as having some imges) is it was our home port. That is to say our journey down the coast started and finished in Napoli.

Below are some images taken during our first voyage to this region. And a fantastic journey it was too. Really unforgettable. I can't recommend it enough.

I took two lenses on this trip and because I didn't want to change lenses on the water I decided to take two cameras, namely the Panasonic Lumix GM5 (one of the greatest cameras ever brought to market in my opinion).

I had the Panasonic 12-32 f3.5-5.6 glued to one the bodies and the Panasonic 35-100 f4.0-5.6 on the other body. This kept my camera kit down. It was small and light bet allowed me reach out to 200mm.
